Devils Advocate here - I have FETCH TV, and NatGeo TV is part of that subscription service. How is it fair that some perhaps are manipulating the system by sharing a codeword that they would not otherwise have access to, when they are not subscribers. Breach of T&C as entrant. Just saying.

understand totally, why is it fair that someone wins a competition to get family and friends to like s picture but asks people on a forum such as this? People who only have a few friends, or friend that don't like 'liking photos for comps' are at a disadvantage as well. I guess what I am trying to say is people will always find a way around the T&Cs. Ps I too have Fetch although I missed the code word so got it off the internet.

@toxicgherkin, hear what you are saying but maybe the people sharing are hoping that good things will come back to them if they share the love. Plus I can honestly say I have sat down and watched a tv show that I wouldn't normally watch just to get a codeword and when I have gone to enter the competition completely forgotten what the code was. So this is handy. I like the thought of everyone helping everyone kind of like how people on here ask for votes etc in the forum I think this is no different and totally okay. Positive vibes I say.

I imagine the major prize winner will be properly verified as a Foxtel subscriber before awarding that prize at least.

It was an amazing doco and i already had it scheduled to watch before i knew there was a comp. Shame people skip over watching it to go straight to the internet for the answer.

To all: should I start to feel as though this negativity is being aimed solely at me and my win. I went from excited to being made to feel guilty and I didn't think that was what the forum was about. I don't think I will bother posting wins or anything on this site again. Best of luck all

I also posted my win Shannon. To be fair the comping website net rewards did post the code word on their site for anyone to enter the competition and the instant win prize of a camera was awarded without any verification of membership of Foxtel etc determined. So as far as I am concerned that is a fair win. As for the major prize it is more than likely that proof of subscription will be required and fair enough. Insinuations that people have somehow gained an unfair advantage is a bit harsh. I have entered comps where t&cs have stated that barcodes and receipts are to be kept as proof on winning a prize and yet was never required to produce them when I was lucky enough to win. So don't feel guilty for your win Shannon and to be honest I actually did not read the t&cs before I entered this comp so yes I probably did the wrong thing by entering but it is also up to the promoter to enforce t&cs rules .

Shannon like I said, there are plenty of people on here who constantly ask for votes and likes etc and noone makes peep about that. If people have a problem with your win I think that is their problem. Good on you, I like hearing about other people's wins and I hope you have plenty more.

Why are people annoyed that someone is playing devils advocate and pointing out that if you are not a subscriber then you (not you specifically @Shannon06) are not entitled to enter the competition......... genuine compers are the first to get up in arms about PROMOTERS who bend their rules but it's ok when COMPERS ignore rules?

I haven't entered as I'm not a subscriber but imagine winning the grand prize - once in a lifetime experience!

For the record I did not enter intentionally to break the rules or get around T&cs. I got caught up in the excitement of entering the competition and made the mistake of simply not reading them before I entered. I certainly did not expect to win. It was an honest mistake and like I said the code word was shared on a comping website and the prize was awarded by the promoter without any verification of subscription. It was a fair point made about the breach of T&cs and it did not annoy me but I disagreed with the insinuation that everyone who entered the comp had set out to deliberately break the rules.

I only saw the comp details after reading all the posts here. Tried my luck and got the confirmation text saying that I've won a camera also!! So excited biggest win in a LONG time. Thanks everyone for sharing and keeping my interest level up for entering comps :)

Welcome! It's really trial and error. I've entered plenty on here, and have had no problems. Sure, the random telemarketer call here and there, but you can soon block those. After a while, you can spot a 'scam' a mile off. I never enter the ones that say 'and now to complete your entry, here's some offers for you' and there's about 10 pages of junk to plough through. Those ones, I think, are just phishing ones :-)

I opened a Hotmail account especially for competitions so my important emails don't get lost in the junk. A lot of comps sign you up for newsletters as a condition of entry but every now and then I go through and unsubscribe. I do get a few telemarketer calls but I don't think it's much worse than before. I've only been notified of wins by phone on two occasions but I always worry that one day I will miss a call for a big win.

Thanks heaps guys, great to know! I've set up a hotmail account to use so that's a good start, will just remind myself that I can block numbers if I get any annoying calls. Hope to get a win soon :)

I think from memory my very first win was a BBQ worth $1000+ from a local radio station.

I won a local school raffle hamper. It had some random stuff in it like a sculpture of a cat. A notepad in the shape of a cat. Off-smelling room spray. Still waiting to win from Competitions online, exercising my 25 WOL skills (or lack of)!

Wow that's a gooden, Melly! lol Mombatti! I remember once when my daughter was at primary school, they asked people for pantry items to make up a hamper for a raffle. Beauty! Time to clean out my pantry of all that junk we won't eat! I sent bags of (still good) food to school for the hamper ..... guess who ended up winning said raffle?? And let me tell you, it seemed that I wasn't the only one that cleaned out their pantries for it! :-(

Well I've entered a LOT (hundreds) on here and other places, and while you do get a lot of junk mail and a few telemarketing phone calls here and there, I've had nothing major happen, so yeah, it's pretty safe as far as I can see

You'll get a lot of e-mail, facebook adds and depending on the competition, calls, like roobycat said. These are usually from sites that ask you questions like, do you want insurance, sponsor a charity and the questions go on for pages.....just remember to say no if you want too and don't answer if it makes you feel uncomfortable. (after all you are the customer) These pages can also generate lots of- emails, just unsubscribe.
I've had no problems at all.

Thanks guys! One more thing though... How do you unsubscribe from people calling/texting you?

If you do get a call and your not interested just say that your not interested and ask to be removed from their call list. I'm fairly nice to them because it's a way they make their living. For sms you can try texting "stop" back (without the commas) and texts should stop. Most of the systems are automated. You can also call your mobile service provider and they can put a free bar on your phone (prepaid and postpaid) but this may stop you entering competitions to 19 numbers, (check with your provider) :)

Yes I've seen it several times. You can report them for it, if the T&C's state something that they haven't followed through on. Others go the other way, and don't announce winners when they say they will, or keep extending the competition length

Facebook and twitter can put you in a bad mood, i have deleted people i knew from school ,but why have I got them on their? i don't even have their number, so why should they be apart of my life? there reason is people like to be nosey , some like to gossip , some like to stalk your profile, some like yo befriend you ? all to know what you are up too? but why is the question, here is an answer, it may be wrong.Some people are not happy in their own life and like to see what people get up to so they can gossip. To stay positive its best to keep out the negative, negative can play a big role in your decision making , being influenced by negativity can lead you in the wrong direction , it can set you life back in years. This is exactly why, in all my years of being on Facebook, I still don't even have 100 'friends'. I don't get how people have hundreds or even thousands. I've had friend requests from people I don't even speak to in the street, so why should they see my private page where I share things with close friends and family. And I have (rarely) added people from my past, but if after a few weeks, they haven't had any active involvement on my page by way of comments or likes, then I delete them again. I'm sorry you've been let down, but sometimes you just have to look after number one, and not worry about anyone else. Real friends don't abandon and/or ignore you
