Terms and Conditions

By entering the "7 NEWS Gold Coast People's Choice Award” competition
(Competition), you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:
1. STANDARD TERMS
1.1 Information on how to enter forms part of the terms of entry.
2. WHO CAN ENTER?2.1 Subject to clause 2.2, entry is open to all residents of Queensland where the Channel
Seven Gold Coast signal is received.
2.2 Employees and their immediate families of Seven Network (Operations) Limited, Council
of the City of Gold Coast (trading as City of Gold Coast) and their associated agencies
and companies are not eligible to enter.
2.3 The twelve (12) winning entrants of the “Mayor’s Panel Top 12” of the City of Gold Coast
Christmas Lights 2018 competition and their immediate families are not eligible to enter
the minor prize draw by voting.
3. HOW TO ENTER
3.1 The Competition commences on Tuesday 4
th December 2018 at 09:00 AEST and
concludes on Ssaturday,15 December 2018 at 17:00 AEST (the Competition Period).
3.2 Entrants visit the 7 News Gold Coast webpage (ww.7newsgoldcoast.com.au/win) and
vote for their favourite house. All twelve (12) winning homes of the City of Gold Coast
Christmas Lights 2018 competition will be on display. Entrants must choose a house
and provide their details to register a vote (Qualifying Entrant).
3.3 The Finalist with the most votes at the end of the competition period wins the Major
Prize, the 7 NEWS Gold Coast People's Choice Award. Only the Finalists, as defined
in clause 3.2, are eligible to win the Major Prize.
3.4 Entrants in the competition may only enter once.
3.5 Entries must be received by Saturday 15 December 2018 at 17:00 AEST.
4. PRIZE
4.1 There will be one (1) Major Prize winner awarded to one of the Finalists from the City of
Gold Coast Christmas Lights 2018 competition who receives the most viewer votes. The
prize winner will receive the prize as set out in clause 4.2 below:

Total major prize value is $1150 including GST. Prize value is correct as at the date of

The Major Prize presentation may be made to the winner on 7 NEWS Gold Coast. The
prize is not transferable.
4.3 There will be one (1) Minor Prize winner drawn from the pool of entrants who have voted
for their favourite Finalist in the 7 NEWS Gold Coast People's Choice Award. The Minor
Prize winner will receive the prize as set out in clause 4.4 below.
4.4 The minor prize is:

4.5 In participating in the Competition, the winners agree to participate and co-operate as
required in all editorial activities relating to the Competition, including but not limited to
being interviewed and photographed. The winners agree to grant the Promoter a
perpetual and exclusive licence to use such footage and photographs in all media
worldwide and the winners will not be entitled to any fee for such use.
4.9 The winners agree they will not sell or otherwise provide their story and/or photographs
to any media or other organisation.
4.10 If a prize winner is under the age of 18 as at the date of the draw, the prize will be
awarded to a nominated parent or guardian as determined by the Promoter in
consultation with the winner.
4.11 Subject to clause 4.10, prizes cannot be transferred. Winners should seek independent
financial advice about any tax implications that may arise from the prize winnings.
5. HOW TO WIN
5.1 Only the Finalists defined in clause 3.2 above are eligible to win the Major Prize. The
Finalist who receives the most votes overall during the Competition Period will win the
Major Prize detailed in clause 4.2 above.
5.2 Each entrant who has entered the competition by voting during the Competition Period,
and registered all details required in clause 3 (“Qualifying Entrant”) will be entered into
the Minor Prize draw. There will be one (1) Minor Prize winner drawn from the pool of
Qualifying Entrants. The Minor Prize draw will take place at Seven Network (Operations)
Limited Sir Samuel Griffith Drive, Mt Coot-tha on Monday December 17, 2018 at 13:00
AEST. One (1) Qualifying Entrant will be drawn at random from the pool to become the
Minor Prize winner.
5.3 The Minor Prize winner will be notified by telephone no later than Tuesday, 18
December 2018, and their prize will be posted to them via Australia Post – Express Post
or will be available for collection from Channel Seven Brisbane (560 Sir Samuel Griffith
Drive, Mt Coot-tha)
5.4 The Major prize winner will be notified by Shaun Sandilands and maybe be announced
on 7 NEWS Gold Coast on Channel Seven Gold Coast on Wednesday 19
th December
2018 and may also be announced on the City of Gold Coast website

5.5 The prize presentation may be made to the winner on 7 NEWS Gold Coast.
5.6 The Promoter may in its absolute discretion deem any entries invalid subsequently to a
winner being notified or a winner’s name being announced if it is discovered that the
winner did not enter the Competition in accordance with these terms and conditions. In
these circumstances, an additional draw will be conducted. The Promoter’s decision is
final and the Promoter will not enter into correspondence regarding the result.
5.7 It is a condition of accepting the prize, that the winner must comply with all the conditions
of use of the prize and all prize supplier’s requirements.
5.8 It is a condition of accepting the prize that the winner may be required to sign a legal
release in a form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
6. NO LIABILITY
6.1 In the case of the intervention of any outside act, agent or event which prevents or
significantly hinders the Promoter’s ability to proceed with the competition on the dates
and in the manner described in these terms and conditions, including but not limited to
vandalism, power failures, tempests, natural disasters, acts of God, civil unrest, strike,
war, act of terrorism, the Promoter may in its absolute discretion cancel the competition
and recommence it from the start on the same conditions, subject to government
legislation.
6.2 Seven Network (Operations) Limited & affiliates, Council of the City of Gold Coast, and
their associated agencies and companies will take no responsibility for prizes damaged
or lost in transit, or late, lost or misdirected mail.
6.3 Seven Network (Operations) Limited & affiliates, Council of the City of Gold Coast, and
their associated agencies and companies will not be liable for any misadventure,
accident, injury, loss (including but not limited to consequential loss) or claim that may
occur:
a) during the draw;
b) whilst undertaking any travel won on or connected with their entry into the draw;
c) in the participation in any prize;
d) as a consequence of late, lost or misdirected mail;
e) due to the broadcast of any program relating to the competition or the publication of
any material, including any statements made by any compere, staff member,
journalist, other entrants or any other person;
f) in relation to failure of an entry message to be received by the Promoter on account
of technical problems or traffic congestion; or
g) arising from or related to any problem or technical malfunction of any telephone
network or lines or mobile communications network related to or resulting from
participation in this promotion.
6.5 Seven Network (Operations) Limited assumes no responsibility for any error, omission,
interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line
failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries, and
reserves the right to take any action that may be available.
6.6 If for any reason this competition is not capable of running as planned, due to causes
including but not limited to tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures
or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoter, or circumstances which corrupt
or affect the administration security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this
competition, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any
individual who tampers with the entry process, take any action that may be available,
and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition, subject to government
legislation.
7. SAFETY WARNINGS
7.1 Entries for the Major Prize must be contained within the entrant’s private property and
not encroach onto public land nor onto neighbour’s property. The Promoters request
that entrants be mindful of neighbours and their quiet enjoyment of the street, and that
they comply with all relevant laws in the creation and display of their entry, as well as
with any reasonable direction given by Council of the City of Gold Coast, the promoters
or police with respect to the display of their entry.
7.2 The misuse of electricity can cause injury or death. Entrants must not use any indoor
lighting products outside and must comply with the safety instructions of all electrical
products used. Electrical safety is paramount and must be exercised at all times. NB:
misuse, uninformed use or unsupervised use of electricity could lead to your
disqualification from the competition. Inspections by qualified electricians to check
the safety of the entrants display are encouraged.
7.3 Entrants must plan to ensure road safety of their display. For safety and security
reasons the Promoters recommend that Christmas Lights displays are designed to be
removed and secured overnight. The security of all aspects of the displays is the sole
responsibility of the entrant.
7.4 Ultimately, you as the home owner or resident are responsible for your display. We
would recommend that people not be invited on to your property as that would
considerably increase any potential risk you may have. The Promoters and Council of
the City of Gold Coast accept no responsibility for any actions or incidents relating to
or occurring during the City of Gold Coast Christmas Lights promotion at or near the
property of any individual entrant. It is advised that you ensure that your home
insurance policy protects you in relation to anything you propose doing as part of your
participation in the City of Gold Coast Christmas Lights competition.
8. PROMOTER’S DETAILS
8.1 The Promoter is Seven Network (Operations) Limited (ACN 052 845 262), 8 Central
Ave, Eveleigh, Sydney Australia 2015.
8.2.1 The benefiting party is the Council of the City of Gold Coast (ABN 584 858 548 460)
trading as City of Gold Coast, of PO Box 5042, Gold Coast MC 9729.
8.2.2 Entry details remain the property of the Promoter. Seven Network (Operations) Limited
(ABN 65 052 845 262) and its related entities (“Seven”), is collecting your personal
information for the purpose of conducting and promoting this Competition, including for
the purpose of identifying and notifying winners and understanding our audiences.
Seven will otherwise handle your personal information in accordance with Seven’s
Privacy Policy which is available on our website at
http://www.sevenwestmedia.com.au/privacy-policies (and which contains information
regarding how you can access your personal information, correct it and/ or make a
complaint about our handling of your personal information). By providing your personal
information below, you agree to the terms of the Privacy Policy. Without limiting the
foregoing, Seven may disclose the entrant’s personal information to its related entities,
business partners and external service providers for research and profiling purposes as
well as other purposes reasonably related to the entrant’s relationship with Seven. In
addition, by entering this competition, you consent to Seven using your personal
information for the purpose of Seven and its related entities sending you information
regarding programs, products and services available through them and/ or through their
business partners, and to Seven from time to time sharing your personal information
with carefully selected business partners for the purpose of them sending you such

9. CITY OF GOLD COAST REQUIREMENTS
9.1 All entrants must illuminate their displays between 7pm and 10pm from Monday 3rd
December 2018 to Monday 24th December 2018.
9.2 Entrants must comply with all Council Regulations and By-Laws.
9.3 Entrant signs for the “Mayor’s Panel Top 12” entrants must be displayed for the duration
of the competition.
9.4 City of Gold Coast reserves the right to refuse, suspend or cancel an entry or entrant at
its discretion.
9.5 Any money collected on properties entered in the competition must be for a registered
charity organisation and the name of the organisation must be clearly stated on or close
to the collection container.
