1. Terms and Conditions:
1.1 These are the terms and conditions of the Trafalgar Local Heroes Program 2020 (“Program”)
1.2 By participating in this Program, you (both nominator and you on behalf of the nominee) agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

2. Overview of the Program
2.1 The Program is administered by Trafalgar Australi Trafalgar Tours (Aust.) Pty Ltd, 35 Grafton St, Bondi Junction, NSW, 2022, Australia and Trafalgar New Zealand: The Travel Corporation (NZ) Ltd, 131 New North Road, Eden Terrace, Auckland 1021, New Zealand (together, “ Trafalgar”)
2.2 To be participate and be eligible, both nominator and nominees must be over the age of 18 at time of nomination
2.3 Nominations open at 12:01 a.m New Zealand Daylight Time on 13 November 2020 and close at 07:00 a.m New Zealand Daylight Time on 11 December 2020 ("Entry Period")
2.4 Two (2) winners will be selected by Trafalgar: one (1) winner will be a legal resident of Australia and one (1) winner will be a legal resident of New Zealand
2.5 Winners will be the Nominee with the biggest depth of contribution to their community or to others (which may include the amount of time committed, impact made or felt by others, level of personal risk involved and level of extraordinary action) as determined by Trafalgar at its sole discretion [Y1]
2.6 Winners will be announced on 15 December 2020
2.7 Winners will each receive, subject to the terms and conditions outlined in Section 8, a Trafalgar voucher valued at $5,000 AUD to be used on any Trafalgar tour and 2 x economy flights to Europe with Singapore Airlines up to a value of $4,000.
3. Who Can Nominate?3.1 Any legal resident of Australia or New Zealand over the age of 18 may nominate a person to be a Trafalgar Local Hero (“Nominator ”)
3.2 Nominators must have permission from the Nominee to:
a. nominate the Nominee into the Program
b. be contacted by the Nominator and Trafalgar
c. permit Trafalgar to use the information submitted in the Nominator’s Nomination (including information relation to the Nominee)
d. bind the Nominee to these Terms and Conditions
3.3 The Nominator must have a contact number for the Nominee
3.4 Upon submitting the nomination, the Nominator agrees to receive ongoing electronic communications from Trafalgar and Singapore Airlines
3.5 A person cannot nominate themselves to be a Trafalgar Local Hero
3.6 Employees of the Trafalgar and a prize provider; any promotional companies participating in the contest and employees of their respective affiliates and subsidiaries; any persons involved in the creation, development, or implementation of this contest; and any other persons or entities directly associated with this contest and any members of their immediate families or households are ineligible to participate as a Nominator
4. Who Can Be Nominated?4.1 Any legal resident of Australia or New Zealand over the age of 18 may be nominated to be a Trafalgar Local Hero (“Nominee”)
4.2 The Nominee has the option to sign up to receive an exclusive offer from Trafalgar. If they choose to accept this, they agree to receive ongoing electronic communications from Trafalgar and Singapore Airlines
4.3 If the Nominee chooses not to receive communications from Trafalgar the Nominator will be required to contact the Nominee regarding all matters relating to this Program
4.4 Employees of Trafalgar and prize provider; any promotional companies participating in the contest and employees of their respective affiliates and subsidiaries; any persons involved in the creation, development, or implementation of this contest; and any other persons or entities directly associated with this contest and any members of their immediate families or households are ineligible to participate as a Nominee
5. How to Nominate
5.1 To enter the Program the Nominator must, during the Entry Period fill out and submit the entry form available at www.trafalgar.com/local-heroes with their own first name, last name, email address, phone number, and country of residence as well as their Nominee’s name and reason for the nomination, up to 100 words (“Nomination”)
5.2 The Nominator must accept these Terms and Conditions (including on behalf of the Nominee) and in turn agree to receive email communications from Trafalgar and Singapore Airlines
5.3 At Trafalgar’s sole discretion it may accept or reject Nominations that contain errors and/or omissions
5.4 Incomplete, indecipherable or late entries will be disqualified at Trafalgar’s sole discretion
5.5 All entries will become the property of Trafalgar and will not be returned
5.6 Trafalgar is not responsible for transmission and/or computer error or late entries
5.7 No nominations will be accepted in any other way including but not limited to email or offline
6. The Nomination
6.1 By entering the Program, the Nominator acknowledges and agrees that:
a. There may only be one Nominee per Nomination, and that person will be the person nominated by the Nominator in the Nomination
b. There may only be one Nomination completed for each Nominee
c. Trafalgar may contact the Nominator at any time in relation to the Program and Nomination
d. They have all permissions and consents to enable them to nominate the Nominee. If required, Trafalgar may ask for evidence of such consents and permissions
6.2 The Nominator acknowledges that by participating in the Program they may, if requested by Trafalgar, be required to confirm or provide additional information in respect of any Nomination (either by phone, email or in person) to Trafalgar
6.3 By entering the Program or submitting the Nomination, the Nominator represents and warrants that all information provided by them to Trafalgar in
the Nomination or otherwise in connection with the Program is true and correct, and not misleading or deceptive in any way (by omission or otherwise)
6.4 Trafalgar reserves the right to ask the Nominator to contact the Nominee and request that they sign a consent form allowing us to contact them to gain further information about their Nomination and to confirm the Nominee’s acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
6.5 Trafalgar reserves the right at any time at their sole discretion:
a. to verify the validity of Nominations (including the identities of Nominees)
b. to disqualify (at Trafalgar’s absolute discretion) any Nomination from the Program that is not made in accordance with these Terms and Conditions or which Trafalgar otherwise deems inappropriate
7. Winner Selection
7.1 Winners (Nominees) must have previously agreed:
a. To undergo and authorize reference checks in order to verify that the information provided in the Nomination is correct (if required, at the discretion of Trafalgar)
b. To be interviewed by telephone or in person (at a location designated by Trafalgar) with respect thereto
c. To be subject to rejection, removal and/or eviction by Trafalgar for any violation of any rules of conduct or other objectionable conduct, or reasonable suspicion thereof
d. To provide content including but not limited to images, videos and direct quotes relating to their nomination and for such content to be used by Trafalgar as outlined in section 11.
e. To sign a publicity release outlining that Trafalgar can use their content to promote the Trafalgar brand globally.
7.2 Non-compliance with the terms outlined in 7.1 will result in disqualification and forfeiture of the prize.
7.3 Winners of the contest will be selected by Trafalgar on 15 December 2020.
7.4 The final decision is at the complete discretion of Trafalgar and shall be final and conclusive.
8. The Prize
8.1 Two (2) total grand prizes will be awarded as follows:
a. One (1) prize will be awarded to a legal resident of Australia and
b. One (1) prize will be awarded to a legal resident of New Zealand.
8.2 Each prize includes (subject to sections 8.3 to 8.9):
a. a Trafalgar voucher valued at $5,000 AUD to be used on any Trafalgar tour (“Trafalgar Voucher”); and
b. two (2) economy flights to Europe with Singapore Airlines up to the value of $4,000 (“Singapore Airlines Voucher”)
8.3 The following terms and conditions apply to the Trafalgar Voucher:
a. The voucher must be used on a trip with departure dates in 2021 or 2022, based on space and availability
b. The last day of the winners’ holiday must be before 31 December 2022
c. The voucher may be split across multiple Trafalgar tours or used by multiple people on the one booking.
d. If the winner redeems their voucher on a trip that is valued at less than the $5,000 the remaining value will stay on file available for use until 31 December 2022.
e. The voucher cannot be used on Optional Experiences, Single Supplement or any unscheduled meals.
f. The voucher is not eligible for elements of a trip that use a third-party supplier including cruise, rail, the Oberammergau Passion Play and internal flights.
g. The prize is not transferable or assignable, or redeemable for cash or any other consideration, and no substitutions will be allowed except by Trafalgar, which reserves the right to substitute prize(s) of equal or greater value or nature if advertised prize is not available.
h. The prize winner is responsible for compliance with all applicable federal, state, and/or local laws and regulations, including, without limitation, the payment of all applicable taxes.
i. The tour must be booked directly with Trafalgar at least forty-five (45) days in advance of the travel date.
j. Prize must be redeemed in accordance with Trafalgar’s booking terms and conditions
8.4 The following terms and conditions apply to the Singapore Airlines Voucher in relation to the prize awarded to the legal resident of Australia
(section 8.1 (a)):
a. Singapore Airlines will provide, for travel departing during the period from 01 April 2021 until 31 December 2022, 2 (two) Economy Class air tickets on Singapore Airlines from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth or Adelaide via Singapore to Europe.
b. The provision of air travel tickets is subject to the following conditions:
i. The issuance of tickets is subject to seat availability.
ii. Flights cannot be taken between 10 December 2021 to 15 January 2022, 10 December 2022 to 31 December 2022.
iii. For travel utilisation, all request should be made as early as possible but recommended to be made at least three months prior to the date of departure to secure preferred flight dates. Note, all booking requests are subject to seat availability and your preferred travel date cannot be guaranteed.
iv. Singapore Airlines will cover the cost of all airport and government taxes, where applicable on the air travel tickets.
v. Excess baggage waiver will not be granted.
vi. Economy Class tickets are not upgradeable to Business Class unless the traveller wishes to do so at their own expense.
vii. The tickets will only be issued if all sectors are confirmed.
viii. The winner is responsible for any costs incurred in transporting passengers to or from their selected airport of departure.
ix. Where 2 or more people are travelling together as, the travelling parties give consent to Singapore Airlines to book their travel under the same passenger booking record (PNR).
c. Once the tickets are issued, requests to change passenger names, travel dates, and/or travelling itinerary will be subject to Singapore Airline’s approval.
i. If any change is approved, a charge of AUD75.00 per change will be levied per change.
ii. Notwithstanding any validity date on the ticket, all travel on tickets issued must be utilised in full by 31 December 2022.
8.5 The following terms and conditions apply to the Singapore Airlines Voucher in relation to the prize awarded to the legal resident of New Zealand
(section 8.1 (b)):
a. Singapore Airlines will provide, for travel departing during the period from 01 April 2021 until 31 December 2022, 2 (two) Economy Class air tickets on Singapore Airlines from Auckland or Christchurch via Singapore to Europe.
b. The provision of air travel tickets is subject to the following conditions:
i. The issuance of tickets is subject to seat availability.
ii. Flights cannot be taken between 10 December 2021 to 15 January 2022, 10 December 2022 to 31 December 2022.
iii. For travel utilisation, all request should be made as early as possible but recommended to be made at least three months prior to the date of departure to secure preferred flight dates. 8.6 Trip and travel expenses and insurance are not included.
8.7 Prize winner must possess valid travel documents (i.e., valid photo ID, passport, visa, etc.) in order to travel.
8.8 Prize winner must get any required inoculations and/or required medical forms completed to clear them for travel (medical forms provided by prize provider prior to travel, if necessary).
8.9 All expenses not specifically and expressly provided herein are the responsibility of the Prize winner, including, without limitation, taxes, and incidental charges.
9. Caution
9.1 Any attempt by any person to deliberately damage any web site or undermine legitimate operation of a contest may constitute a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, Trafalgar reserves the right to seek damages from and/or to prosecute any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Any such tampering will also result in ineligibility to win the Prizes in the Program.
10. Liability
10.1 Except for any liability that cannot be excluded by law, Trafalgar (including its officers, employees, agents) excludes all liability (including negligence), for all personal injury; or any loss or damage (including loss of opportunity); whether direct, indirect, special or consequential, arising in any way out of the Program, including, but not limited to, where arising out of the following:
a. The outcome of the Program;
b. Any technical difficulties relating to submission or receipt of Nominations;
c. Any unauthorized access or third-party interference;
d. Any Nomination that is late, lost, altered, damaged or misdirected (as applicable); due to any reason beyond the reasonable control of Trafalgar;
e. Any termination or cancellation of the Program;
f. Any variation in Prize value to that stated in these Terms and Conditions
11. Privacy Statement and Use of Nomination
11.1 Upon receiving consent from the Nominee, Trafalgar reserves the right to use and display any information relating to the Nominee (including personal information as defined by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Privacy Act 1993 (NZ)) (as applicable) (Personal Information) provided in a Nomination, or otherwise collected from them during the Program, in any media without remuneration for the purposes of promoting and marketing Trafalgar globally.
11.2 By entering this competition the Nominator is allowing Trafalgar to use their direct quotes in perpetuity in any media without remuneration for the purposes of promoting and marketing Trafalgar globally.
11.3 Trafalgar may use and display such information for the abovementioned purposes online (including social media), or otherwise make public any details of the same, at any time.
11.4 All rights, title and interest in any such content will vest with Trafalgar
11.5 The Personal Information that the Nominator or Nominee provide will be collected by Trafalgar for the purpose of conducting the Program and managed in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and Privacy Act 1993 (NZ) (as applicable) and Trafalgar’s Privacy Policy available at
www.trafalgar.com/en-au/resources/privacy-policy. Winning the competition is conditional on providing this information. Trafalgar may disclose this Personal Information to its employees, contractors and agents to assist in operating the Program or communicating with participants.
12. Exclusive Offer
12.1 Exclusive offer is only available to Nominators and Nominees (who provide their details) in the Trafalgar Local Heroes campaign and provides a $200 discount on any Trafalgar tour of seven (7) days or more in duration.
12.2 To qualify for this exclusive offer, the Trafalgar guided holiday must be booked and deposited by 31 March 2021.
12.3 Valid for new bookings made directly through Trafalgar by booking online or by calling our Trafalgar Travel Experts on 1800 002 007 only.
12.4 This offer is valid for the land only portion of all 2021/2022 Trafalgar guided holidays departing before 31 December 2022
12.5 Offer not valid for use on optional extras.

13. Singapore Airlines tickets (New Zealand Prize Only)
13.1 The Promotion allows the entrant to win two return Economy Class tickets from Auckland or Christchurch via Singapore to destinations available at the time of travel in United Kingdom and Europe, on the flying on Singapore Airlines (SQ).
13.2 SIA will cover the cost of all airport and government taxes, where applicable on the air travel tickets.
13.3 Employees of The Travel Corporation, Singapore Airlines and associated sponsor(s) and their immediate families are not eligible to participate.
13.4 Prizewinner must be at least 18 years of age in order to be eligible for the prize. Participants must be a resident of New Zealand, hold a passport with minimum six months’ validity and not have any prior criminal convictions.
13.5 The Winner and the Winner’s chosen travelling companion (‘Companion’) are responsible for and must cover the cost of:
a. visas, passports and any other travel documentation required;
b. transport and associated costs from their residence to Christchurch Airport or Auckland Airport for flight departure and from Christchurch Airport or Auckland Airport to their residence upon returning to New Zealand;
c. all other expenses related to the Prize, including without limitation taxes, full travel insurance, transfers, spending money, food and beverage and any other incidental costs; and
d. Any changes to travel dates or additional accommodation outside the travel period specified in the Prize details.
13.6 Travel for the Prize must depart and return during the following period: 01 April 2021 until 31 December 2022 (“travel period”). 31 December 2022 is the last travel date.
13.7 Flights cannot be taken during peak travel periods between 10 December 2021 to 15 January 2022, 10 December 2022 to 31 December 2022.
13.8 The Winner and each Companion must travel together at all times within the travel period. The dates for travel are subject to availability. The Winner may not get preferred dates particularly around peak school holiday travel times and other public holiday periods. Singapore Airlines reserves its right to impose particular flight embargoes during periods of heavy demand as is required commercially from time to time.
13.9 The Winner and Companions must hold full international travel insurance for the duration of the trip prior to departure from New Zealand.
13.10 If the Winner or Companion has a criminal record and is denied entry into Singapore or the specified destination or encounters any visa issues on route, Singapore Airlines cannot be held responsible or liable in any way.
13.11 It is recommended that all travel requests are made at least 3 months prior to the date of departure.
13.12 The provision of air tickets from Singapore Airlines is subject to the following conditions:
a. the issuance of tickets is subject to seat availability;
b. excess baggage waiver will not be granted;
c. Economy Class tickets are not upgradable to Premium Economy or Business Class unless the winner wishes to do so at their own expense;
d. the tickets will only be issued if all sectors are confirmed;
e. once the airline tickets are issued to the Winner and Companions, requests for changes of passengers’ names and travelling sectors made 35 days or less before the date of travel will be
subjected to Singapore Airlines approval. For any changes to tickets after issuance a charge of NZD75.00 per change will be levied;
f. no portion of travel not utilised may be carried forward beyond the validity dates contained on the ticket without the specific, written approval of Singapore Airlines. Notwithstanding any validity date on the ticket, all travel on tickets issued must be utilised in full by 6 months of first departure date; and
g. travel will only be available on Singapore Airlines’ operated services.
13.13 Frequent Flyer mileage cannot be accrued on any of the free or concession travel undertaken for this Prize.
13.14 Charges for excess baggage shall apply where a passenger seeks to carry more than their entitlement of luggage. In such cases, Singapore Airlines is not liable for the charges.
13.15 Tickets will be valid for the period specified on the ticket. Unused travel at the expiry of the validity period cannot be refunded or re-utilised. Once a journey commences (i.e. the point at which the first flight coupon is redeemed for travel), the utilisation of the commitment for free tickets is deemed to have been made against the provision stated above.
13.16 Tickets are not transferable and must be issued only in the correct name of the person travelling.
13.17 The Prize is not transferable or exchangeable and cannot be redeemed for cash. The Prize must be taken as stated in these terms and conditions and no compensation will be payable if the Winner is unable to use the Prize as stated. For the avoidance of doubt, if the Winner is, for whatever reason, unable to travel on a nominated date during this period, whether the failure was due to reasons beyond the Winner's control or otherwise, then the Winner will forfeit the Prize.
13.18 The Winner must be available for the preparation of all publicity that may be required by Singapore Airlines.
13.19 The Winner accepts the Prize entirely at his/her own risk and indemnifies Singapore Airlines in respect of any claim for any accident, injury, property damage or loss of life that may occur in connection with the Prize.
13.20 The Promoter makes no representation as to safety, conditions and other issues that may exist at any destination. International travel advice can be obtained from various sources, including government, local consular offices and the website of the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
13.21 All travel is subject to the terms, conditions and restrictions of the Prize service providers.
