Having two sons, I have seen lots of cars in my time as a mum. There’s something about little boys and cars – the obsession develops very early on! It seems everywhere I turn we are either playing with, looking for or watching cars lately, so when Master 3 got some new ones recently he was excited.
Majorette started producing die cast models in France all the way back in 1964, with the company celebrating its 50th anniversary last year. Now owned by the Simba Dickie Group since 1992, the cars have been rolling off a production line in a factory in the northern suburbs of Bangkok, Thailand.212054006_d_rgb_2000x1500_7_11744490Unlike some of its main competitors, most Majorette cars feature opening parts which increase their playability – most have sprung suspension systems and plastic headlights, with the Street Cars series made up of licensed models of those vehicles you see on the road.
You can shop the Majorette range which include Street Cars, Racing Cars and Emergency Vehicles as well as Construction and Play Sets at Kidstuff, David Jones, Toyworld and other independent retailers. David Jones stores have also brought in a range of helicopters, planes and motorbikes in their most recent batch – every little boys dreams covered!

Floyd was sent a Series 2 Limited Edition range pack. It included a Lamborghini Aventador, Mercedes Benz SLS and a Chevrolet Camaro (pictured above) The main appeal to him at 3 was the bright colours – and the ability to open and close the doors on the cars. Despite having a lot of toy vehicles, not one of his small ones has these features – and he loved it. The cars became a favourite very quickly, he has spent lots of time driving on his garages and car ramps, and opening and closing the parts endlessly. Little boys like playing and seeing how things work, and the Majorette cars provide that. It wasn’t only Floyd that loved these vehicles either – he had to keep a firm grip on them to stop his sisters trying to have a turn.
