Information on how to enter and the prizes form part of these Terms and Conditions. Participation in this promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.
Promotion commences at 9 am AEST Monday 27 July 2020. Online entries close at 11:59 pm AEST on Friday 18 September 2020. Mail entries must be posted by Friday 18 September 2020 and received by last mail on Friday 25 September 2020.
Entry is only open to Australian residents who:
are a student in Grades 3 to 8 in Australia. Individuals can be in the relevant grades in a primary or secondary school or they can be home schooled in these year levels; and
can travel (together with their parent/guardian) to the USA (and have or can obtain all appropriate travel documentation), 30 June 2021, if they select the Major Travel Prize as a Major Prize Winner (defined below);
Eligible Entrants must have permission and consent from their parent/legal guardian and their nominated teacher or home educator to enter and further, the parent/legal guardian and nominated teacher or home educator must read and consent to these Terms and Conditions. Parents/legal guardians and teachers/home educators may be required by the Promoter to enter into a further agreement as evidence of consent to the minor entering this promotion.
Employees (and their immediate families) of the Promoter and agencies associated with this promotion are ineligible to enter. Immediate family means any of the following: spouse, ex-spouse, de-facto spouse, child or step-child (whether natural or by adoption), parent, step-parent, grandparent, step-grandparent, uncle, aunt, niece, nephew, brother, sister, step-brother, step-sister or 1st cousin.
To enter, an Eligible Entrant must complete one (1) of the following entry methods:
ONLINE: Visit littleBIGidea and:
complete the online promotional entry form, including their name, age, grade, the full name of one (1) teacher from their primary or secondary school (or their home educator if home schooled), the name of their primary or secondary school (if applicable), the name and contact details of a parent/legal guardian, and an answer in 200 words or less to the promotional question: "What is your littleBIGidea?";
if they wish, upload a picture, illustration or a drawing of their invention/idea or a video no longer than one (1) minute (any video entries over one-minute will be deemed invalid and will not be considered for the competition) which outlines their invention/idea in more detail. For the avoidance of doubt, Eligible Entrants do not have to submit a picture, drawing, illustration or a video with their entry and this step on the entry form is optional;
agree to participate in promotional and media activities if selected as a winner by ticking the relevant mandatory tick box;
agree to the Terms and Conditions; and
submit the online entry form so that it is received by 11:59 pm AEST on Friday 18 September 2020; OR
MAIL: Download and print an entry form from littleBIGidea and:
complete the form, including their name, age, grade, the full name of one (1) teacher from their primary or secondary school (or their home educator if home schooled) that they would like to nominate (and who will be awarded a prize in the event the Eligible Entrant is deemed one of the winners), the name of their primary or secondary school (if applicable), the name and contact details of a parent/legal guardian, and an answer in 200 words or less to the promotional question: “What is your littleBIGidea?;
if they wish, attach a picture, illustration or a drawing of their invention/idea or enclose a DVD or USB containing a video no longer than one (1) minute (any video entries over one-minute will be deemed invalid and will not be considered for the competition) which outlines their invention/idea in more detail. For the avoidance of doubt, Eligible Entrants do not have to send a picture, drawing, illustration or a video with their entry and this is optional;
agree to participate in promotional and media activities if selected as a winner by ticking the relevant mandatory tick box;
agree to the Terms and Conditions; and
post together to: “Attention: littleBIGidea, Level 6, 321 Exhibition St, Melbourne Victoria 3000” by last mail on Friday 18 September 2020. Mail entries not received by the Promoter within one (1) week of Friday 18 September 2020 (being by last mail on Friday 25 September 2020) will be deemed invalid. Please note that postal entries will not be returned.
Eligible Entrants must have the permission of their teacher or home educator (as applicable) as well as their parent/legal guardian to enter and to nominate them on the entry form. The idea/invention submitted in the entry must be realistic and hypothetically possible to implement. The idea/invention and the answer to the promotion question must be the original work of the Eligible Entrant created without assistance from their parent/guardian or any other person.
The Promoter reserves the right, at any time, to verify the validity of entries and Eligible Entrants (including their identity, age and place of residence and schooling) and reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who the Promoter has reason to believe has breached any of these Terms and Conditions, tampered with the entry process or engaged in any unlawful or other improper misconduct calculated to jeopardise fair and proper conduct of the promotion. Errors and omissions may be accepted at the Promoter's discretion. Failure by the Promoter to enforce any of its rights at any stage does not constitute a waiver of those rights. The Promoter's legal rights to recover damages or other compensation from such an offender are reserved.
Each Eligible Entrant can only enter in their own name. Group entries will not be accepted. Incomplete, indecipherable, or illegible entries will be deemed invalid. Entries that do not comply with these Terms and Conditions will also be deemed invalid (for example, entries that exceed the 200 word limit or video entries that exceed 1 minute), at the Promoter’s complete discretion.
Only one (1) entry is permitted per Eligible Entrant. If an Eligible Entrant does submit two (2) or more entries, only the first entry will be accepted and considered.
If there is a dispute as to the identity of an Eligible Entrant, a teacher/home educator, or a parent/guardian, the Promoter reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to determine the identity of the Eligible Entrant, teacher/home educator, or parent/guardian.
This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the Finalists/Winners. Each entry will be individually judged based on the creative merit, originality and innovative value, clarity, practicality and ease of understanding of the answer provided to the promotional question and the supporting picture/drawing/illustration or video provided on entry (if any). The judges may select additional reserve entries which they determine to be the next best, and record them in order of merit, in case of an invalid entry or ineligible entrant. The judges will be determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
The Promoter’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
