Huxtabook by Daniel Wilson
Firstly to Mr Daniel Wilson, dynamic chef and owner of the Huxtaburger restaurants around Melbourne. In her review, Robyn recommended this book if you're sick of the same old, same old. There's a refreshing tone to Wilson's recipes and he's taking Modern Australian cuisine on an evolutionary ride.
In Huxtabook: recipes from land, sea and earth you'll find plenty of food to share from bites to sweets and all the great seafood, meat and plant life in between. Some of the recipes that took our eye:
Rice-flour-crusted Oyster Po’ Boy with Sriracha Mayo
King Prawn Salad with Chilli Pineapple, Bean Sprouts and Red Curry dressing
Wagyu Beef Tataki with Roasted Shallot & Chilli Dressing & Toasted Rice
Upside-down Quince Cakes with Cinnamon Crumble and Almond Ice Cream
And there were oh so many more but you'll have to enter to win your own copy to find them!

Mr Hong by Dan Hong
Dan Hong has a proud heritage, a collection of sneakers and, naturally what we're all most interested in, an enthusiasm for experimenting with big, bold, fresh flavours. Vietnamese, Mexican and Chinese make for an intriguing mix of influences but Hong makes them work... extremely well.
This is the man and the mind behind successful restaurants Mr Wong, El Loco and Ms G's which is how the recipes are sorted. But don't think that El Loco is authentic Mexican, it's more authentically Dan Hong's brilliant take on the freshness, spice, rich flavours and contrast of that cuisine.
Some recipes that made our mouths water? Just like Huxtabook, It's hard to pick just a few but we'll try:
Roasted Sambal Barramundi
Lotus Ice Cream Sundae with Raspberries and Honeycomb
Fijian-style Sashimi of Trevally
Stoner's Delight (to be seen to be believed and don't tell your GP!)
As Laura said in her review, the eclectic variety and new take on traditional recipes is perfect for those wanting to experiment and impress.
