The Competition opens at 12.01am AEST on Monday 13th February 2017 and closes at 11.59pm AEST on Monday 31st July 2017. Any entry received after the expiry of the Competition period will be deemed invalid.
Entry in this competition is free of charge and open to Australian residents aged 12-24 years. An entrant can be an individual or a group of individuals however, please note that the winning prize can only be claimed by one individual.
To enter your film into the ‘Hidden Others: Youth Homelessness short film’ competition which is run by The Salvation Army (ABN 64 472 238 844), you (entrant) have:
· Completed the entry form on https://www.pedestrian.tv/
· Agreed to these Terms and Conditions
· Ensured that you have the necessary permission(s) to any music used in your film
· Acknowledged that the film you are submitting is your own original production
· Obtained the permission for all individuals filmed in your entry. If you are chosen as a finalist you must provide The Salvation Army written evidence of these permissions using the nominated release form which will be supplied to you.
2. Judging of the films
One film per state and age category will be chosen by The Salvation Army as finalists. All or a selection of these films will be distributed by The Salvation Army during their ‘Hidden Others’ social media campaign in 2017.
The Salvation Army selects a jury to judge the films in each age category and participating state in order to decide on the finalists. The Salvation Army tallies their results and comes up with an average score for each film. The film with the highest score in each state and age category will be the finalist. The jury are asked to use their own judgement but are instructed to evaluate each film based on execution, strength of idea, creativity and how the film addresses the theme of hidden youth homelessness.
All finalists will be announced during Homelessness Prevention Week in August 2017. Finalists will have their films promoted to the general public who will then vote on a winner for each age category.
Voting will be conducted during August 2017, culminating in the announcement of the two winners.
Decisions of The Salvation Army and its panel of judges are final and will be binding on each person who enters the competition and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the judging process or any outcomes reached. Likewise, the decision of the public in voting for the two winning films are final and will be binding on each person who enters the competition and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the judging process or any outcomes reached.
Finalists and winners will be announced on the Hidden Others website (www.hiddenothers.org.au), the Pedestrian TV website (https://www.pedestrian.tv/) and any other associated online platforms including social media.
4. PRIZE
PRIZE DETAILS:
14. The prize consists of the Prize, valued at the Total Prize Value.
15. Each Winner’s use of the Prize is subject to: 1. (a) any Special Conditions (if applicable); and 2. (b) additional terms and conditions imposed by the supplier(s) of the Prize (if any).
16. The Prize must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if a winner is unable to use the Prize as stated. The Prize is not transferable to another person (unless agreed to by the Promoter) or exchangeable for other goods and services and cannot be redeemed for cash.
17. The value of the Prize is correct as at the start of the Competition.
18. If the Prize becomes unavailable for any reason, the Promoter, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to substitute the Prize with a prize of equal or greater value and/or specification subject to any direction by the regulatory authorities.
19. The total prize consists of:
1. (a) 1 x day All Inclusive unpaid work experience to shadow under the supervision and instruction of the authroised representative from Pedestrian TV @ Pedestrian HQ in Sydney (non-transferrable prize).
3. Rights
By submitting your film to Hidden Others: Youth Homelessness Short Film Competition 2017, entrants grant The Salvation Army free and unlimited use of their film.
Entrants acknowledge that Hidden Others: Youth Homelessness Short Film Competition 2017 is under no obligation to exercise any of the rights granted to it by these Terms and Conditions. Communication about the films entered to the public by The Salvation Army is at the complete discretion of The Salvation Army.
The Salvation Army reserves the right to cancel, postpone, extend or amend the Competition and corresponding prizes.
Entrants agree that Hidden Others: Youth Homelessness Short Film Competition 2017 may use their entry and any personal details provided to The Salvation Army for any promotional, marketing and publicity purposes of Hidden Others: Youth Homelessness Short Film Competition 2017 in any media without notice and without fee being paid to them and the film may be edited for these purposes.
To the full extent permitted by the law, The Salvation Army will not be liable for any injury, damages, expenses or loss whatsoever (whether direct or inconsequential) to persons or property as a result of any person entering into the Competition.
4. Intellectual Property
The film submitted must only include original material created by the entrant. Any materials including words, art, music, photographs, sound recordings or footage that is not created by the entrant, must have all rights cleared and secured. Failure to clear these rights will result in removal of the entry from consideration in the competition.
The entrant must also have secured written permissions and releases from each of the contributors who worked on or appeared in the film, for a non-exclusive licence for use in perpetuity.
The Salvation Army take no responsibility for any failure by an entrant to obtain the necessary authorisations. Entrants warrant that their films (and any material contained in their films, including, but not limited to, any clip) do not infringe the intellectual property rights or any other rights of any person. Entrants will fully indemnify The Salvation Army against any loss, costs, expenses, demands or liability, whether direct or indirect, arising out of a claim by a third party or another party.
By the submission of your film to The Salvation Army’s Hidden Others: Youth Homelessness Short Film Competition 2017 and its acceptance into that competition entrants grant to The Salvation Army a world-wide royalty free non-exclusive , perpetual and non-terminable licence to use, reproduce, broadcast, communicate or otherwise exploit the film in all media and by all means (whether known now or invented in the future) for the full period of any copyright including (without limitation) all renewals, revivals, reversions and extensions of that copyright
5. Prohibited Content
No film that contains sexual content, extreme violence or offensive language will be accepted. Entries which include content deemed to be offensive by The Salvation Army will be disqualified at The Salvation Army’s discretion.
6. Privacy
All personal information, such as your name, address, telephone number, email address and age, is collected solely for the purposes of administering this contest and shall not be used for any other purpose without your consent. By providing this information, you consent to it being used by The Salvation Army for the stated purposes.
7. Technical Requirements
Films selected as finalists must be submitted in their original format to The Salvation Army, preferably in 16:9 format with stereo sound and with a minimum 720p HD resolution (1280px by 720px). Films selected as a finalist must be submitted to The Salvation Army via Dropbox or Express post by Fridday August 11th, 2017. Finalists will be notified of this by COB on Monday August 7th, 2017.
· Authorisation and release
By submitting your film you agree to give The Salvation Army, Australia Southern Territory (TSA), permission to record in any form any or all of my image, voice or interview and to edit or reproduce or use any product created by that or those processes for TSA instructional, educational and Red Shield Appeal promotional purposes. You acknowledge that TSA owns all copyright and moral rights in any product. You waive any right to inspect or approve the product at any stage of production or before or during distribution or sale as well as any claim present or future claim you may have to compensation.
You hereby release, discharge and agree to hold harmless TSA, its legal representatives, employees, assigns and all persons acting under its permission or upon its authority from any liability whatsoever.
You have read and understood the above authorisation and release, prior to submitting your film.
