And here are some of the cool things you can DO over Summer…
Watch and learn from some of the entertainment world’s most talented performers in Green Room Junior, culminating in a live student showcase on stage. The Green Room Workshops further teach kids how to sing, dance, act and perform, with backstage access to celebrity mentors showing them all the tricks of the entertainment trade. Get whimsical as princes, princesses, fairies and fun characters all create a fanciful land where only the true kiss of love will awaken the 100-year slumber of The Sleeping Beauty; presented by The Australian Ballet’s – Story Time Ballet. Kids who like to pirouette can also enjoy an unforgettable dance and learning experience led by one of The Australian Ballet’s premiere Education Team Members in Dancing Story.
If being constructive (or destructive!) is more your thing, then our makers’ workshops are definitely right up your creative alley. Me Myselfie and I – direct from QAGOMA offers an exhibition exploring the representation of self, alongside interactive making and multimedia art projects like creating fun self-portraits. Tap your inner flair and flaunt that fashion style by sculpting a stunning outfit to wear down the runway in Cardboard Couture. Or if you’ve got bigger ambitions, why not take over the world with your awesome, hand-made Robot Helmet that gives you bionic super powers no one can match!
Whatever kids may be into, there’s something for everyone to enjoy over Summer at The Arts Centre Gold Coast. Some activities are free and others affordably ticketed with bookings essential; a selection of workshops also require that children be accompanied by an adult at all times. Check online for full Summer details, and remember, there’s heaps of 4-hour parking on site plus yummy food and drinks available at the Arts Café.
