MICHAEL Bay does not disappoint in the fifth instalment of the iconic Transformers franchise. 'Transformers: The Last Knight' sees Mark Wahlberg ('Patriots Day', 'The Fighter') at the centre of a cataclysmic battle to save Earth unlike the world has ever seen. Cade (Wahlberg) is joined by an English lord (Anthony Hopkins, 'Hannibal', 'The Silence of the Lambs') and the kick-ass brains and beauty combo of Oxford Professor Viviane Wembley (Laura Haddock, 'Guardians of the Galaxy', 'Da Vinci’s Demons') to unravel centuries old secrets that threaten the demise of the world as we know it.
With Transformers now hunted in a dystopian post-war world, all hope seems lost when the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime – a figure of good – is lost to them all when he is brainwashed by the malevolent, god- like creator of the Transformers, Quintessa (Gemma Chan, 'Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them', 'Humans'), and becomes Nemesis Prime. Humanity faces impending annihilation as Nemesis Prime is charged with destroying the world in order to re-birth Cybertron, which is hurtling through space on a collision course with Earth. Cade’s unlikely team must band together to prevent certain destruction for them all. To do this, centuries old secrets must be unraveled that go deeper than anyone had ever thought to look before.
