Filmed throughout the beautiful countryside of Yorkshire, England, the film follows Johnny, an isolated young sheep farmer (Josh O’Connor) whose life of binge drinking and casual sex is interrupted by the arrival of a Romania migrant worker (Alec Secareanu). The two embark on an intense relationship that could affect Johnny’s life in more ways than one.
The film has been receiving strong reviews since its festival run kicked off at Sundance in January. Apart from the critical love, this naturalistic drama has been bestowed with a number of festival awards, including the World Dramatic Cinema Special Jury Award For Directing at the Sundance Film Festival, the Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature at the Frameline Film Festival.
