After sold-out seasons in London and Sydney, the comedy Lip Service opens at Southbank Theatre, The Lawler, from 11 July for a strictly limited season. The production stars Amanda Muggleton as Helena Rubinstein.
Based on the true story of two legendary entrepreneurs, Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden, Lip Service is their battle to rule the cosmetics industry and achieve success in a male dominated world. Rubinstein emigrated from Poland to Australia in 1902. Although she had no money and little English, she started a small business in the West Victorian town of Coleraine before she opened her first beauty salon, Salon de Beaute Valaze, in Melbourne’s stylish Collins Street. Then off to New York she went, and the rest is history!
