During the liberation of the concentration camps, Allied soldiers and cameramen shot reels and reels of film. With this footage, producer Sydney Bernstein – together with a team that included Alfred Hitchcock – began to make German Concentration Camps Factual Survey (MIFF2014). They edited thousands of hours of material with the aim of showing the world and the German people what had happened. But the project was shelved and the footage lay, untouched, in the London Imperial War Museum. Night Will Fall is a compelling documentary that tells of how the project was finally released in all its uncompromising detail. Night Will Fall is screening at the Classic Cinema in Elsternwick from January 22. The Australian Jewish News has two double passes to give away to the film. Competition entries close on Thursday, January 22 at 10am.
